I wanted to take a moment to talk about fall decorations before we move onto the December holidays. I know that it has been a crazy year and many people are doing everything a little differently this year, so I can understand why many are trying to get into the holiday spirit. Though I can understand it I have to admit I can’t accept it.
Let me start by saying I love FALL, it’s the time of year of my birthday and my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. These both happen in November thus it’s full on fall by the time these two events run around. Not only are there these two events, but also the falling leaves and the scarves with boots are some of my favorite things.
When I start thinking about fall decorations there are a few things that always come to mind, rust and golds, leaves and pumpkins. The more pumpkins the better in my opinion. I also trade out decorations based on the month, like for October I go crazy with the jack-o-lanterns, then in November I switch out for the turkeys.

I started to show some of those fall changes when I was talking about the entryway post though I do try to add fall in most of the rooms in the house, including the front porch. I love the warmth the rust and gold colors add to any room.
Starting with the front porch, I get pumpkins from the local nursery and add them to the bench that is out on my front porch all year round like the photos below. This year when I went to look for those pumpkins none of them were really what I was looking for so I started to think about other options.

The front porch is always a work in progress for me but especially in the fall. Since the pumpkins were a bust I wanted to play up a look I was going for awhile with the fall porch. I really wanted to play with the rust color that I have from a terra cotta jack-o-latreen that I was given by my mother. So when I was out shopping I came across this clear and rust pumpkin and an idea was born. I also liked that they would still work with the garden gnomes I had found at Target this summer.

From the front porch we come into the living room and dining room and this is the space where the bulk of my decoration happens. I have always been shopping at small vintage and local stores, but in this pandemic it is in those small local shops that I have been spending my time. I have been able to score some great finds in the last few months. Let me show off those new finds.

As I moved into this new house I started to curate all of my decorations, starting with fall since I moved into my house in September. Most of my favorite fall finds involve pumpkins, I try to include them in every room.

In closing I just have to say I love FALL but I can’t wait to start decorating for Christmas.
